9 RESTAURANTS WITH APPLAUDABLE NEW YEAR'S EVE MENUS

2020 has been a real pain in my derriere and I cannot wait to see the back of it. Like Christmas, New Year's Eve has always involved a nice feast of some sort, usually at home, or at a nice restaurant whilst abroad.

This year will be different for many of us, but thankfully a host of restaurants in Malta are on hand to make sure you end your year with a culinary bang, serving up resplendent spreads to welcome 2021 and say Bye Felicia to 2020.

I have looked at over 20 menus and these nine restaurants have the ones that really caught my eye.

IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

1

Townhouse No3, Rabat

Malcolm Bartolo, chef patron of Townhouse No3, has invited his mentor, the legendary Charles Pintonino, to join forces for a special four hands six-course dinner.

This menu is my personal favourite and the one I have actually chosen to go to because it is guaranteed to be a 10/10. There are only 20 covers so you'd better hurry.

Barbajean, Dingli

Barbajean have made quite the impression among foodies and it's no surprise that their NYE menu would be one to watch out for.

Imagine indulging in several courses such as spiced lamb cannelloni and pepper-crusted rump of beef (with with vanilla and thyme fondant potato)... surrounded by stare-worthy interiors.

Nine. Nine courses is what The Harbour Club are offering on their delectable New Year's Eve menu.

Chef Andre Borg has created dishes such as gnocchi (with black truffle, parmesan, oyster mushroom), wagyu sirloin (with beetroot, redcurrant jus) and miso meagre. That's just a third of it.

4

Paprika, Gzira

Malta's first Balkan fusion casual fine dining eatery has quite the menu lined up for you on Dec 31st. I have experienced chef Zoran's culinary creativity first hand, so this should be a treat.

Croatian oysters (wait till you try these) and wild sea bass with wavy gravlax carpaccio? Yes please!

5

Grotto Tavern, Rabat

Slide into the new year by powering through this luxe six-course menu with scallop ceviche & Jerusalem artichokes and roasted turbot with bacon & almond crumbs. That's not even the half of it.

If you see the venue you'll be eating in, it's a no brainer.

9

Under Grain, Valletta

If you really want to splurge, spend the last few hours of 2020 at Under Grain, one of Malta's Michelin-starred restaurants.

The line caught local fish with caviar and 'Vichyssoise' sounds mighty fine. I was at Under Grain last week and will report back soon, however I will say this... the epitome of luxury.
