Mazza's is a pretty understated no-fuss curry house, perhaps only known to people residing in the area, or those in the know... well now you're in the know.
Located in Marsascala, Mazza's offers a decent and varied Indian menu, which I thankfully discovered when I ordered a take out (and plated myself to show off my new Balti dishes).
For starters, I really loved their pahadi kebab (one of my favourite Indian nibbles) which consists of chunky morsels of chicken, marinated in coriander, mint, mustard oil, ginger garlic mix, Indian spices and yoghurt.
The lamb sheek kebabs were a delight and probably the most generous portion size i've had. Here you'll find very succulent pieces of well-marinated ground lamb, full of aromatic spices.
Out of the curries I ordered, two thumbs up for my favourite - madras. There are many variations of madras, and the one at Mazza's certainly hit the spot. My meat of choice was lamb, which got my taste buds tingling, not because of the heat level, but due to the layers of flavours.
Bonus points for the evident use of fennel seeds.
The pathia curry had that sweet and sour twang that makes this dish so popular. It was well-balanced, aromatic and had a nice consistency.
So if you are craving a worthy Indian spot, maybe one that you haven't tried yet, I do recommend Mazza's, whether to dine in or a curry in a hurry.
