Essence of India: the seafront Indian restaurant that just opened in Mellieha

A brand new Indian restaurant opened its doors this week with the promise of bringing authentic flavours and an 'all new Indian dining experience'. Let's say a big hello to... Essence of India.

Situated within the walls of the Radisson Blu Golden Sands hotel in Mellieha, their menu features your favourite Indian starters such as chicken tikka, tandoori chicken leg, beef seekh kebab and lamb samosa (to name a few). They've also brought along fried fish with Punjabi spices and prawn khazan (sauté prawns with indians spices).

Expect tons of tandoori grilled meats and seafood, in addition to the usual suspects such as vindaloo, rogan josh, korma, madras and tikka masala (in the chicken, lamb, beef, seafood, veg and pork variety).

Original dishes come in the form of chicken kolhapuri (a spicy Maharashtra region style chicken curry), nalli nihari (slow-cooked lamb shank with aromatic Indian spices) and a salmon curry cooked with South Indian spices mixed with coconut milk.

Some of the vegan and vegetarian dishes on offer include cumin-flavoured red lentils cooked with garlic and okra with onion, tomatoes and Indian spices.
