Naanbar Restaurant literally just opened its doors and everything about this new Indian restaurant will impress you (I say this with no exaggeration).
Now, I have my fair share of top Indian restaurants on the island, so I am not trying to compare as they’re pretty different in terms of concept. Naanbar has really brought something completely new to Malta.
Chef Swaminandan's culinary experience is every chef's dream. Not only has he worked at Noma and at The Fat Duck alongside Heston Blumenthal, he was a semi-finalist at the MasterChef UK Professional 2011.
During the soft launch (which runs until Mother's Day), Naanbar will be serving special set tasting menus before releasing their a la carte.
The very affordable set menus will change approximately every three days. Our (€30) seven-course menu included a very creative amuse bouche, Aloo Tikki, Paneer Seekh and a Lamb Biryani. Swaminandan's creativity and love of molecular gastronomy is present in every dish.
The a la carte menu items are still a surprise but will feature street food, traditional slow-cooked revelations, seasonal dishes, tandoor and grilled meats as well as global Indian and molecular gastronomy.
God himself couldn't stop me from going again and again... and you definitely should too.
It's a solid 9/10 from me!
