I've been looking forward to this opening since it was in construction, and I’ve already booked my table. Say hello to Malta’s first and only Balkan restaurant, officially opening this Thursday (Oct 29th).
Located in the heart of Gzira, Paprika will serve typical Balkan dishes with a refined (yet unpretentious) fusion twist.
Head chef
Zoran Bogdanovski, promises that diners will get an unrivalled experience, with cuisine that hasn't been seen before in Malta (i’ve been a fan of his creative dishes in the past, so I trust that his promise will be kept).
Expect a fusion of plates from
Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia and Greece, presented in a way that is a feast for all the senses.
Starters include
marinated chargrilled squid (with a garlic emulsion, carrot chips and olive dust), chicken and cod parfait (coated in spicy white chocolate), and
Boskarin tongue carpaccio.
A theatrical
octopus ‘under the bell’, a
braised Kleftiko lamb (with a paprika reduction and green pepper cheese foam), a
seabass roll (with local prawns), and a
Karadjordjeva steak (with breadcrumbs, potato mash and tartar jelly), are what you can expect from the main course section.
I am looking forward to the
Mushroom Forest dessert and the signature cocktails made with ingredients typical of the Balkan region, created by mixologists who are experts in their fields.
Take my money - review to follow!
