RICKSHAW REVIEW: CONTEMPORARY ASIAN DINING AT THE CORINTHIA PALACE HOTEL IN ATTARD
The fact that Stefan Hogan is the executive chef, and that it's located at the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa in Attard, is what makes Rickshaw restaurant a safe bet for a lovely dining experience.
First of all, I want to give a special shout out to the hostess with the mostess (aka the restaurant manager) Memely. She handled our table with such class and finesses, I would go there again just for her. Also, the menu is a bit limited at the moment and she accommodated my request to have some of the old dishes.
What you'll find at Rickshaw is a plethora of
Asian dishes from different regions of China, Thailand, Singapore and more, with a strong western fine dining influence. The quality speaks for itself.
Highlights included
scallops sizzling on a clay hot pot surrounded and marinated with chilli, lemongrass, wood ear mushrooms and asparagus. Believe me when I say that the explosion of flavours were powerful.
The Gulai Kambing (Indonesian goat curry) was soul-warming, hearty, and just had that creamy wow factor. The fork-tender pieces of goat meat had a depth of character.
Meaty chargrilled
lamb cutlets swimming in a slightly piquant XO sauce certainly packed a punched. Decadent, without trying too hard.
A beautifully-plated
noodle dish paying homage to Singapore, is not only pretty to look at, but satisfying to munch on.
The
prawns Sichuan were another hit. Plump, crisp-fried and tongue-numbingly fiery due to the abundance of fresh and dried chillies.
Rickshaw's menu is a fine example of when East meets West. A fusion done finely.
