The Greenroom opened its doors less than two months ago (replacing the former Hush restaurant) and it is sleek little place that i'm sure will do well with locals and tourists alike.
The interiors and branding has been designed by Sean Cassar, the same designer behind Sliema's trendy Hammett's Gastro Bar. Here, you'll find elegant dark tones and high-end banquettes. The detailed outdoor dining area provides stunning views of the Marina.
The menu is pretty creative without trying too hard and focuses on modern European sharing plates. There are options for vegans and vegetarians too. For starters (in the Small Plates section), my highlights included the surprisingly earthy grilled lamb tartare and the cod carpaccio. Both were beautifully presented and I loved the popcorn addition to the carpaccio, which really gave the dish a playful texture.
I wouldn't leave this place without having the squid ink tagliatelle with grilled calamari, burrata and crunchy gremolata. Not only is it visually striking due to the contrasting colours, the flavours and different textures are sure to impress any food lover. The fresh burrata melting into the silky, black pasta makes for a memorable dining experience indeed.
The Basque Style Chicken Wings were disappointing if I can be honest, both in taste and size.
The Greenroom is a great place to socialise with friends over cocktails and tapas whether you're dining or drinking indoors or outdoors.
