Seoul Food: Proper Korean food makes its way to Is-Suq Tal-Belt, Valletta

Korean food is so underrated in comparison to its Asian counterparts and i don’t know why, it’s so delicious, flavoursome and comforting. Thankfully there are a handful of good Korean restaurants in Malta but hey, the more the merrier I say. and that’s where Seoul Food comes in.

Located in Is-Suq Tal-Belt and from the same owners of Pinoy Street Food (the very authentic Filipino stall at the same location), Seoul Food promises to spice up Valletta by showcasing real Korean flavours and offering traditional Korean dishes not seen on the island.

The kitchen will rustle up starters and bites such beef mandu (dumplings), chimaek (fried chicken) with either butter garlic, honey mustard, soy glazed or sweet & spicy sauces, pork or bulgogi kimbap (Korean style sushi rolls), and a Korean corn dog.

Mains will include staples like Jjamppong (a Korean spicy seafood noodle soup), japchae (stir-fried sweet potato noodles with veg and meat), galbijjim (braised beef short ribs with a rich sauce), fish cake skewers, jjigae ( (kimchi stew), beef bulgogi (thinly-sliced marinated beef usually grilled), slow-cooked beef ribs, and sundubu (Korean spicy soft tofu stew).

It wouldn’t be a Korean restaurant without the hearty bibimbap (a rice bowl topped with lots of vegetables, marinated beef, an egg, and of course the spicy gochujang sauce), tteokbokki (spicy simmered rice cakes), pajeon (Korean scalliin pancakes), and kimchi fried rice.

Seoul Food will also offer bento trays with jeyuk bokkeum (spicy pork bulgogi) or Dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) as the star of the show, served with rice and preserved vegetables. How about black sesame ice cream for dessert?

Judging by how authentic their Filipno stall is and the owner’s passion for Korean food, I have no doubt that Seoul Food will be a blessing to Korean food lovers and newbies alike who want to experience truly authentic tastes.

Seoul Food is set to open around the end of April (for the exact date keep your eyes peeled for updates on here).
