Having lived in Tokyo, I’m no stranger to unique dishes, Japanese flavours and culinary mash-ups that work well. I am very curious to try out Ichiban, which just opened today.
Ichiban, (meaning number one in Japanese), offers adventurous and bold Japanese style burgers. You can expect the speed and price of a fast food self-service outlet, but the quality promises to be very gourmet.
Japanese burgers you ask? Diners can tuck into homemade Wagyu patties if it’s beef that they want. Burger flavours include a teriyaki beef burger, a tori karage burger (Japanese style deep fried chicken with sriracha and mango sauce), a kimchi burger, a bulgogi burger, a grilled salmon burger, an ebi katsu burger (shrimp patty) and more.
You can forget about seasoning your fries with plain salt, you’ll be able to get furikake (a balance of sweet and salty) or shichimi (a Japanese aromatic spice mixture) as seasonings.
How oishii!
