MALTA'S FIRST AND ONLY FILIPINO BAKERY IS OPENING ITS DOORS

Are Asian bakeries on the rise? A couple of months ago, we saw the opening of Kyoto, Malta's first Japanese bakery, and now in around two weeks time, a Filipino bakery will open its doors (let's hope for a Chinese one next).

Located in Is-Suq Tal-Belt Valletta Food Market, Panaderia, from the same team behind the authentic Filipino eatery Pinoy Street Food, will feature freshly-prepared baked treats made on-site from scratch.

There will be warm, chilled and pre-packed items. Typical Filipino fare will include hopia (a traditional Filipino pastry), pan de sal, and ensaymada.

You can also expect to see a lot of items with ube (a purple yam which is a staple in the Philippines). Pastries from other parts of Asia and Spanish bread, will also be available to purchase.

This concept will be slightly different to the other outlets inside the market. Customers will be able to walk in to the stall, pick their items from self-service shelves and pay at the cash desk inside the kiosk.
