Open-Air Live Fire Food Festival Brings Four Renowned Chefs Together Under the Stars
There are plenty of food festivals. Then there are the ones that make you wonder why more events aren’t built like this in Malta.
Open Fire Chefs is back for another Sunset Edition, returning to Maria Rosa Wine Estate on Saturday 8 August with an evening dedicated to live fire cooking, good food, drinks, music and one of Malta’s most picturesque vineyard settings.
Rather than dozens of stalls competing for your attention, the concept is refreshingly simple. Four renowned chefs and brands. Four exclusive dishes. One ticket. One fire-focused experience.
This year’s line-up brings together Asado by Rafel Sammut, Nicky Diacono (serving local lamb pitas with smoked lamb belly, salata mixwija and hummus), Mez by Naan Bar and Meats & Eats, with each creating a dish exclusively for the event.

Set among the vines at Maria Rosa Wine Estate, the event is about far more than what ends up on your plate. Expect live fire cooking, drinks, music, entertainment and an open-air setting designed for lingering long after you’ve finished eating. If previous editions are anything to go by, don’t be surprised if tickets sell quickly.
It’s also the kind of event that reminds you food often tastes better when you’re nowhere near a dining room. Around a fire, under the trees, with smoke drifting through the air and somebody inevitably asking what that incredible smell is from the next grill over.
If your idea of a good evening involves open flames, great food and some of Malta’s best culinary talent cooking just a few metres away, this is one worth putting in the diary.
Tickets include one signature dish from each participating chef or brand, giving guests the opportunity to experience all four creations in a single evening.
