Owner of Popular Indian Restaurant Garam Masalaa Has Passed Away
The owner of one of Malta’s longest-standing Indian restaurants has passed away.
In a heartfelt Facebook post shared today, Garam Masalaa announced the passing of its owner, Sunil, describing him as “not only the heart of our family but also the heart and soul behind Garam Masalaa.”
The family said that through his passion, hard work and generosity, he welcomed countless patrons through the restaurant’s doors over the years, many of whom became lifelong friends. They added that his legacy will live on “in the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the heritage he leaves behind.”
Originally opening its doors in Qawra in 2004, Garam Masalaa spent two decades serving North Indian cuisine before relocating to the Birgu Waterfront in 2024. During those 20 years, it became one of Malta’s best-known Indian restaurants, attracting loyal locals and tourists alike before continuing its journey in Birgu.
Our thoughts are with Sunil’s family, friends and everyone at Garam Masalaa during this difficult time.
